Johnson even said in his interview that he wasnt aware where the yellow line was and he was more focused on Martin and getting by him. I can see why Johnson went so low cause Martin did start to come down a little and Johnson didnt want to wreck his teammate. But thats just my opinion. It wasnt as obvious as Regan Smith a few years ago or Denny Hamlin this year.
Well, I dont see it as he totally went under. But a part of his car did go under. My bigger issue is with Nascar being inconsistent with their rulings at times. They state under the yellow is under the yellow, no exceptions. But then turn around and dont enforce it at times. Doesnt matter that Martin was going to go for a block, that is a legal move according to nascar as long as the block move is done above the yellow line. Martin could gone all the way down to the yellow, and still be legal had he made a better attempt to block. But again, I am more concerned with nascar not staying consistent in enforcing their rules.

As far as Johnson not wanting to wreck his teammate, as close as they were running he would have taken himself and a lot of others out had they made contact.

if johnson is under martin then martin cant drive down to the yellow line. you cant force a guy down the yellow line, thats also a penalty.

I agree that they have to tread the optics of rule enforcement very carefully or they would look like the FIA/F1 but I think their rules asessment/enforcement has caught up to address the close rates we are seeing this year with the 2-car drafts. When they're closing that quickly on a late blocker things can go wrong very quickly on a track like Daytona or Dega if they don't evade below the yellow line (eg. Edwards into the fence type wreck at Dega....I was sitting close to that spot at the finish line at the prior race in October so it's packed in there). Rules were set before we saw these 2-car drafts and really fasy close rates - curious to see how it plays out.

You get that in every sport. And nobody even hinted that they enforce the rules equally. In fact, that's exactly what they were complaining about, that it's not equal.

if anything, it looked like maybe Jr was lower than Johnson when they went by bowyer and harvick.

Who said that? I said that my beef is that they dont have consistency in how they enforce them.

I totally agree there as well. But under the "rule" Johnson could have passed Martin not Jeff. But oh well its really spilled milk. He won and nascar missed another one. Was definately a good finish to watch!

i didnt think of the Gordon car though, cause that would make sense. Yea the finish in my opinion made up for what I thought was a pretty uneventful race. I just dont like this type of racing at the plate tracks now.

LOL... I still didnt see the big deal about that myself. It was his trophy to do with as he wished. But I always have my money on Kyle in the Nationwide.

Thats news to me.... Doesn't surprise me.

I think it was pretty cool. He even said everyone is getting a piece of the trophy tonight not just myself so he broke it into pieces and gave it to his crew.

i remember a longtime ago when either Carl edwards or greg biffle won a truck race and the trophy was something made out of glass and he broke it during the exchange to someone else.
