Don't get me wrong, those guys were fast today with their engines from the big boy camps, but you rarely see any of them even running in the top 20 in non restrictor plate races. They may have had great engines today, but they don't have the testing capability, resources, or funds to be competitive week in and week out, except for maybe Reagan Smith. The 78bunch have something figured out and might surprise some more people if they continue to have more success.

    • I got a question for you NASCAR gurus. Why were the cars pushing each other around the track today? Sorry if its been posted. I didn't read the thread.

it gives them more speed by pushing the car in front than it is being by themselves or in a pack of cars. This type or racing on restrictor plate tracks is new ever sense they repaved Talladega and Daytona. The problem with pushing a guy in front is after a few laps the car thats pushing becomes overheated. They will most likely race like this until either nascar creates new front and rear bumpers that dont line up, or after a few more years the pavement at both tracks will began to get old and will have some bumps.

            • Shit why couldn't Mark Martin stay on Jeff's ass?!?! They had the win but he just couldn't stay attached. I dont care as much as Jeff being so close to fall just short.... but why did Junior have to push the 48 to win? Jimmy Johnson!

Short version of the recap..... the finish for first was tied for the closest in Sprint Cup history. The top 8 or so cars all finished less than a second apart.

carl edwards was barely scraping the wall when he crossed the line. the finish made up for what I think is boring racing.

true. I just didn't want the 48 to win.

x2 he doesn't seem very dominate in races as some of the other drivers but he damn sure knows how to finish. Can't knock em'

I will never deny thats he is good. I stand firm though when I say that if it wasn't for his crew chief, half his wins wouldnt be on the records books. Chad is a very smart guy. I hope he took Junior to the best steak house in the state for pushing him to the win.

Whats your take on the controversy going on about Nascar should have penalized Johnson for going just below the yellow line? Seems like its split half and half throughout the media.

look at the great champions in this sport and you will find that most of them have a good/great crew chief

                          • also Ive looked at the replay of Johnson and the yellow line, and its close but I cant say he went over the line. Johnson even said in his interview that he wasnt aware where the yellow line was and he was more focused on Martin and getting by him. I can see why Johnson went so low cause Martin did start to come down a little and Johnson didnt want to wreck his teammate. But thats just my opinion. It wasnt as obvious as Regan Smith a few years ago or Denny Hamlin this year.

yahoo sports has a photo of it, just click the nascar link and its on the front page.

Jeff Burton and his sponser Catapiller signed a new multi year deal with RCR. I like this move, I like and respect Burton cause he is a guy that usually races clean. Promotes safety in nascar and I think he is a good spokesman.
