    October 20, 2013

Stats and facts from Cowboys vs. Eagles: Romo's 100-start numbers and where they rank

Statistical notes from Sunday’s Cowboys-Eagles game as provided by the Cowboys public relations staff:

-- Today’s game marked the 100th career start for Tony Romo. He finished today’s game completing 28-of-47 (59.6%) passes for 317 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions for a 69.2 quarterback rating. Through his 100 starts, Romo completed 2,262-of-3,478 passes for 27,485 yards and 189 touchdowns. Among quarterbacks who started their career in the Super Bowl era, Romo ranks first in completions and yards, third in touchdowns and fourth in attempts:

    QBs through 100 career starts:

    Brett Favre, 194

    Tony Romo, 189

    Aaron Rodgers, 180 (83 starts)

    Peyton Manning, 178

-- Romo’s 28 completions gave him 2,278 career completions to pass Jeff Garcia (2,264), Trent Green (2,266), Ken Stabler (2,270) and Norm Snead (2,276) for 47th in league history.

-- For his career, Romo now has 27,747 passing yards to pass Jeff George (27,602) and Joe Namath (27,663) for 53rd in NFL history.

-- Romo’s touchdown toss today gave him at least one in 20 consecutive games to tie his club record (2009-11).

-- Terrance Williams caught a touchdown pass for the third straight game, tying the longest streak by a rookie in team history. It is the sixth time a rookie has done that. Bob Hayes did it twice in 1965, Antonio Bryant did it in 2002, Martellus Bennett in 2008 and Dez Bryant in 2010.

-- With four catches for 48 yards, Jason Witten has caught at least one pass in 77 straight games, second in team history (Michael Irvin, 117 from 1990-98). Witten’s last game without a reception was at the Giants on Nov. 2, 2008.

-- In catching eight passes for 110 yards, Dez Bryant now has 242 career receptions to pass Herschel Walker (232), Terrell Owens (235) and Kelvin Martin (237) for 14th in team history.

-- Bryant’s 110 yards today upped his career total to 3,440 and allowed him to pass Terry Glenn (3,337) and Tony Dorsett (3,432) for 13th in team history.

-- Bryant now has three 100-yard games this season and nine in his career. His 110 yards today tied the sixth-most in his career.

-- Jason Hatcher’s sack today gave him 22.0 for his career and allowed him to pass Mike Hegman (21.0) and La’Roi Glover (21.5) for 20th in team history.

-- Today’s win gave Dallas 3-0 record against division opponents in 2013. It is the first time since 2007 the club started a season 3-0 against the division, third time since 2003 and seventh time in the history of the franchise.

Romo's stats are trivial and meaningless with a 1-in-4 playoff record. In fact, his stats just make fans even more cynical.
