  • Coaches challenges coming to baseball...

The owners will vote in November whether or not to adopt coaches challenges. 2 in the first 6 innings, 1 challenge after the 7th. Play would be reviewed at the MLB headquarters.

Major League Baseball is expanding its video review process next season, giving managers a tool they've never had.

I don't like the idea. I don't think that the umpires make a huge number of mistakes (I only watch the Rangers so I don't see them all). It makes an already long sport even longer and potentially hurting the fan base.

MLB to expand instant replay in 2014

*Associated Press | August 15, 2013COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Major League Baseball is expanding its video review process next season, giving managers a tool they've never had.Commissioner Bud Selig calls it a historic moment for the game in a press conference in Cooperstown after two days of meetings with representatives of the 30 teams. The proposal is to be voted on by the owners in November.Managers will be allowed two challenges over the first six innings of games and one after the seventh inning. Calls that are challenged will be reviewed by a crew in MLB headquarters in New York City, which will make the final ruling.MLB vice president Joe Torre gave the replay presentation to representatives from all 30 teams on Wednesday and it was discussed Thursday morning.A 75 percent vote by the owners is needed for approval and the players' association and umpires would have to agree to any changes to the current system.Atlanta Braves*President John Schuerholz, a member of the replay committee, says the umpires are receptive to the change. Schuerholz says 89 percent of incorrect calls made in the past will be reviewable.

Not a fan, it'll take away one of the best parts of the game. I love watching a good manager - umpire scream fest.

Yep! Hell before long, they will be using pitch trackers instead of umpires

I think they should do instant replay, but late in the games.

            Maybe 7th inning and on.

They do it onquestionable home runs. I am ok with that. I don't think it needs to go any further

I think they should do it on safe/out calls on the bags. There are alot of games that are affected by the outcome of a stolen base or a tag. I don't think those should be left to chance that the ump is at the right angle at the right time.

I can agree with you there. My biggest problem with it is that they are opening a can of worms, where does it stop? Also the time added to games which are already 3-5 hrs long

Man, this is really going to slow down the fast paced baseball action

Put a chip in the ball and eliminate the need for umpires and reviews.

Now a regular game will feel like extra innings without the extra innings.

The average is less than 3 hours. Anything over 3 1/2 hours is a long game. 5 hours is extremely rare.

I don't see how a maximum of 6 reviews per game will slow it down that much.

You don't watch enough baseball to form a legitimate opinion on the subject!
