I don't agree he deserves more than the nexted talented kid. Everyone should be allowed to make money. My arguement isn't that he should be the only one. Are you saying that he shouldn't be allowed to make more money than a less talented kid? Do you think every NFL player should make the same? Should the guy who just started a job make the same as a 20 year vet doing the exact same job?
Jeez you are dense. They have rules. They've always had rules. Paying athletes is against them. What part of that is hard to understand? If there were no collegiate sports, what would Johnny football do? He damn sure wouldn't have won the Heisman and be so marketable. ATM in this case invested the money in the program, the move to the SEC, the stadium, recruiting other players, paying coaches, etc. They've invested in it for years. Why shouldn't they get the money? By your logic, every kid in the world has potential to make money. If Manziel wants to make money, then quit football and go make money. He's not going to do that, so in the meantime he needs ATM more than they need him.

The rules are there for a reason and they've been there all along. It's the same for everyone out there. Manziel gets to hone his skills, market his persona, become famous, and has the chance to earn a college degree along the way. Instead, he's frequenting every bar (while underage) that he can, sleeping in while at football camp, and getting arrested. He sounds like a brilliant guy who would be smart with whatever money he has...

I was just some asshole at A&M, not A&M's starting QB.

I still don't believe he took any money for autographs. I just don't see him having any reason to do so. It's not like he needs money, his family does just fine.
I heard there are at least three witnesses to Manziel making a five-figure deal with a sports collectibles dealer to autograph hundreds of items. And apparently there is a strong trail of eBay items sold by that dealer, and a suspiciously high number of Manziel items available for sale on the market. Not saying he did or didn't, but either someone is making up some serious allegations or the guy is a complete dumbass.

He was a dumbass long before this autograph scandal came about. The article posted is a prime example.

Matt - We were all young and stupid at one time. The difference is, we were not public figures, top tier athletes, and had millions and millions of dollars on the line.

Cause he respects no one and thinks he deserves everything. You should read the article by Wright Thompson. Pretty interesting, all the problems seem to start with daddy.

Also, cause kids do dumb shit.

What astonishes me, is that he has a fucking personal assistant that dropped out of school to be little Johnny's personal assistant. I'm sure he's really trying to keep Manziel in line

I was but didn't ever make the news...I did the partying, drinking, and probably a few other things that were "illegal" but luckily there were no poparazzi and definitely no twitter/facebook.

I'm not defending him if he screwed up, just not hanging him with no evidence like ESPN and a lot of others are doing. Even if he's out Sumlin will do pretty good this year!

With that schedule, Case McCoy could win 9 games

I know none of you could perform a proper valuation to save your life, but a free education from a fine school is worth a whole fucking lot. When you consider that a ton of these kids would never even sniff a college if they weren't good at athletics, I'd day they're doing alright.

So ESPN is already backpedaling on the story about Manziel getting paid for autographs. They say there is no proof yet but they have been investigating since January. Sounds like ESPN is trolling. Herbstreit went on the Cowherd show and said the media is to blame for all of this, said it is sad that a bunch of grown men are so focused on the life of a 20 year old.

This story does not make any sense, Manziel has enough money to take a private jet to the ESPYs but would take five figures for a few autographs? ESPN came out again and said there is no proof. I believe he drives a new Mercedes too so it is not like his family does not spoil him. The way I see it Manziel is a rich, spoiled kid whose parents never said no to. He grew up being told he was the best and I think this arrogance is what makes him such a good player. He is not the fastest, not the biggest, but once he steps on the field he believes he is better than everyone out there and is there to prove it.

The kid may be a brat but he is not doing anything we did not do when we were 20. I went to A&M and there is not much to do there at night besides party. Like most people I think I drank more before I turned 21. With social media now the guy cannot get away from the spotlight. He has time to grow up and if he doesn't that is his own damn fault. He is book smart (think he has enough credits to graduate after this year) but so far his common sense is not the best out there. Then again he may not care what we think and does what he wants.

All the aggy is right, nothing to see here

An East Coast autograph broker told ESPN on Tuesday that Johnny Manziel was paid $7,500 for signing approximately 300 mini- and full-sized helmets on Jan. 11 and 12 while he was attending the Walter Camp Football Foundation event.

Most people think there has to be proof of video or pictures of Manziel taking money for him to get in trouble. That is not true when dealing with the NCAA.

Either this story is being made up or JFF is an idiot.

After the investigation the NCAA did on the university of Miami you never know what they are going to do.
