DALLAS –– Dallas Cowboys lineman Josh Brent was booked into the Dallas County Jail Thursday afternoon after failing a second drug test, according to an affidavit released Thursday afternoon.
According to court documents, Brent tested positive for marijuana after providing a urine sample on June 19. Authorities said he previously tested positive for THC metabolite in a sample given on May 24.
"The defendant in this case has been repeatedly warned of the condition of pre-trial release in this case," the affidavit read. "His continued use of marijuana demonstrates a pattern of conduct in disregard of this court's authority to properly supervise his pre-trial release."
Authorities issued a bench warrant and he is being held without bond pending the outcome of a hearing set for July 19.
In late December, Brent was charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of his teammate and friend Jerry Brown Jr. The defensive tackle was previously released on a $100,000 bond.
In May, prosecutors asked Judge Robert Burns to revoke Brent's bond after they said his alcohol-monitoring device detected the presence of alcohol. The judge denied the prosecution's request and instead ordered increased monitoring.
Earlier in the month, WFAA talked with the mother of Brown, Stacey Jackson, who said she has kept in contact with Brent.
"Evidently he needs help," Jackson told News 8. "He has to learn from his own mistakes, and we don't know the situation of the reason why he tested positive."
