Brooklyn Nets hire Jason Kidd as Head Coach

I know of a few NBA coaches who made the jump from player to coach without being an assistant first and getting some experience. But known have made the jump this soon after retiring from playing. What's it been? Two weeks since he's retired? It will be interesting to see how this plays out but I'm guessing it doesn't go well and they come out worse at the end of next season.

kidd was one of the smartest guys on the court but jumping straight into the headcoach seat seems like a bad idea.

I do think it's soon, and odd that he won't assistant somewhere first. But, Kidd has always been basketball smart, and I do think he will make a great coach one day.

He is a good offensive/defensive mind...but like others have said, the HC is different from a "coordinator" role...I think he would have excelled as a coordinator...but eh, to each his own

I think he'll struggle initially, get fired and assist somewhere. He's going to be an excellent coach.

I hope I'm wrong and he kicks ass from the get go.
