the mexicans were pissed that the Canadians were "running up the score" mot understanding that the runs scored can come into play in the event of a tied record in the tourney.

One of the tie breakers is run differential. If USA wins today then there will be 4 teams with a 2-1 record. Mexico took offense to the bunt in the 9th with Canada clearly in position to win. Canada was just trying to get runs for the tie breaker. Mexico made themselves look really stupid yesterday.

Who cares? A simple understanding of the word "competition" could also have prevented that scrap.
