Me too if it dosent make us trade any valuable minor leaguers in our system. Its sounding like Berkman might be done for the season with his hip and back injuries, plus old age (who would've thought that?).

On a sidenote is Manny Ramirez still hitting pretty good out in Round Rock? If he can be a .250-.275 batter with some RBI's as a DH it wouldn't hurt. Hell it'll help.

A lifetime ban is pure speculation at this point and I don't see it happening. Now, he might be told in a private meeting with MLB or NYY it is in his best interest to not come back after whatever suspension comes across.

Also I'm not sure that NYY would be required to pay the remainder of his contract if he were to receive a lifetime ban. Braun's 65 game suspension is without pay... If Rodriguez were to be banned for life then technically it would be a suspension with out pay, not a voided contract.

Currently NYY is trying to get out of his contract by Keeping him on the DL. That way they can try to collect the insurance on the contract.

Of course there was at least one Dr. that reviewed his MRI and said there is nothing medically wrong with the "strained/injured" quad. If enough time passes where the insurance would kick in; the insurance company is damn sure going to review his records with their doctors and do what they can to not pay. If they find that NYY was intentionally prolonging the DL stay to make insurance pay, there might be an investigation regarding insurance fraud.


The sad thing, from a Yankees standpoint, is that they had the chance to let him go when he opted out of his contract... Then Steinbrenner called Rodriguez and made him the current contract offer.

I'm starting to think that Berkman is on his last leg (pun intended), and is about done. He had no business playing first base as much as he did while Moreland was on the DL. Yeah, I blame Warsh for that. We all knew that Berkman would be fragile even if he only DH'ed.

I'm betting he will stay on to finish the season, and if anything get a couple appearances during the playoffs. Can't imagine him being on board with us again next year though. Too many young guys coming up from 3A and swinging the bat pretty good.
