It was good seeing Berkman hitting one out in the first. It was even better seeing Murphy knock one out with them T-rex arms after Berkman's hit. I was getting ready to leave with my son when Kinsler hit it out with the 3 run homer. Yu sure did struggle early on and was surprised to see him only go 5 innings; blister was bothering him.

We were out last night and I was only able to watch the game in bits and pieces (DAMN YOU, CMA's!). As critical as I was of Texas acquiring Berkman, he's certainly carrying his weight, and then some. Kinsler woke up nicely, and Mitch didn't get blanked. Couple that with a win against the Angels, and I'd say it was a good night!

So Olt is hitting .063 with 10 strikeouts in 17 plate appearances for Round Rock this season. Looks like Moreland's job is safe for a while.

On the other hand, Profar is hitting .333 with 6 walks in 4 games. If he keeps performing down there then this is all going to come to a head at some point.

I agree. Olt's numbers are horrendous, especially for Round Rock. Warsh made a comment about Moreland "not having to look over his shoulder" concerning if he would start or not. Personally, a little competition is good ,to a point. It's one thing not knowing game-to-game, but another knowing there's a kid in AA or AAA looking to come up. IMHO, Profar's a player, and it's just a matter of time before he breaks into the line-up.

Nice to see a good all around pitching effort by the bullpen. I hope they continue to pitch well, especially in the late innings where we've struggled so much the past few years.

I hate to rely on the benefit of hindsight, but I'm struggling to see why they didn't trade him last season (and why I thought not trading him was the right move). They have other 3B talent in the minors, he won't have a spot up here for two or three more seasons at the soonest, and even then it's looking sketchy if Moreland can put it together or if Kinsler does indeed wind up moving to first.

Another topic: where do you guys place Murphy in the rangers history? I know he isn't flashy, and he doesn't show up in the all star voting but he seems to me to be a guy that goes out and does his job and is dependable when it counts. One of those pesky guys that can irritate pitchers because he doesn't seem dangerous until you leave one high In the zone.
