  • This team is pretty deep in the infield right now, which is great for right now, but that depth quickly whittles away if they give away a piece or two. That's my reluctance to trade Profar or Olt, although like I said, I think Olt is more expendable.

That said, the Rangers need to capitalize on the values of both Olt and Profar if they're not going to utilize them. Both are probably about as valuable right now as they're going to be (Profar may have some wiggle room there if he continues to produce when he gets a chance at the MLB level), and you'd hate get way less on your dollar for them if they get traded in two years instead of now.

Honestly, I do not envy Jon Daniels right now. The Andrus/Feliz/Harrison trade may have made his career as a GM, but how he handles this situation (and honestly, even out of his control, how it pans out either way) may break his time in Texas.

    • And the Astros we all expected to see have shown up in the 8th inning: a dropped fly ball and a muffed double-play.

Dude, that happened when they beat the Angels in March. Are you for serious? This is the World Baseball Classic.

LOL. Yeah, they're back. At least Beltre brought his stick with him today, but Moreland is still lost at the plate. I swear I can hear Olt's teeth grinding... ;-)

                • Did L. Martin swing wildly at every pitch again?

                    Still bitter, Tom?

He had a few errant hacks, but I think he put the ball in play each time up. At least one well hit ball.

I'm still going to boo him in his first at bat on Friday, damn it.

                          • Personally I think Olt is overrated. Profar needs AAA time. but I am a fan. Bought a bat with his scribbles on it.

Some say... they have been raced, some a lot

Olt isn't the be alll-end all, but he has the potential to put some pop back into the lineup, something the Rangers are starting to need after the loss of Hamilton and the potential future loss of Cruz.

IMO, they should have shown some willingness to deal Olt at the deadline last season, that could've been the difference make for them in the post season.
