  • As a Moreland fan, I hope he answers the call. Nobody will know until he's on first as a starter. It's time for him to fish or cut bait.

Of course, they've been to the World Series twice in the last 3 year and have nothing but the AL title to show for it. Add that to already having reduced their salary cap by not resigning Hamilton, Napoli, and Young (nearly 31 million combined). Seems perfectly legit that tickets sales should increase another 15%.

Now confirmed Moreland will be the 1st base starter on opening day.

              • Matt Harrison is also currently in discussion with the Rangers on a contract extension. That's solid news since he is our #2 pitcher.

                • Harrison got a 5yr/$55Mil contract tonight. If he pitches like last year, that's a pretty good value I think.

Very good value. He has pitched solidly for the last two seasons. With the astronomical price of starting pitching, this deal could be good for Texas long term.

                      • Anyone catch Napoli's slide from a 3/39 deal to a 1/5? He must have a real health issue. I honestly wouldn't have minded paying him $5mm to ride the bench/DH.

Well played on JD's part, though, clearly knew what he was looking at. All the power to Napoli if he was able to swing a 3/39 deal, but that obviously didn't make it through the physical.

Saw a blurb about. Something must have come up with his physical? It does make Daniels look like a genius (in this case).

                          • You have to wonder if that's why he had such a drop off last season.

Really one of the good decisions they've made over the years IMO. He's solid, like you said, he also wants to play here and he's got the drive and motivation to continue to improve his game. That's the kind of talent I like seeing in this clubhouse, especially with some of the veterans leaving this offseason. I've went from being more concerned about our pitching the last couple if years to this year now being more concerned with being able to put runs on the board.

Very likely. I couldn't figure it out myself, how you go from having a pretty stellar year, albeit for a catcher, and then drop off the cliff the next year.
