  • Norm was taking the current numbers on the season and multiplying everything times 4 for their projetion this year, since this is the quarter point of the season.

Crash Davis was projecting at .331, 44 hr, and 140 rbi.
Moreland was at .290 or so, 36hr and only 72 RBI.

Haha! Chrissy's avg has dropped 40 points in the last 3/4 weeks. He hit 7 homers in like the first month, but has cooled off quite a bit. He's hitting .311 as we speak. He hit .270 last year w/33 homers. This would be a HUGE year for him to even sniff Norm's numbers.

Also, Davis hits 4/5 in the line-up. That helps him a little, too, RBI-wise.

Although, he hasnt popped up as much it seems.
I invented a statistic for him on Opening Day for him called the KINS: he gets 1 KINS if he hits the ball further than it goes high, regardless of what the result of the play is.

So far, his KINS numbers are off the charts compared to recent years, which explains his success this season.

The whole Davis discussion really shouldn't be happening, as far as I'm concerned. He was never going to be worth a damn here, and I think the change of scenery for him is what's helped him turn it around. Not having to play close to home with the spotlight of everyone he knows watching every at bat, not having any competition for his position where he is now...wasn't ever going to work here, but glad he's figured something out up there.

I agree. He had MANY opportunities over the years to make it happen. The guy would hit .380 in AAA, then not hit his weight as soon as he came up. I really hope he does fine, but it just wasn't meant to be while he was here.

Alexi Ogando pitched well in his last start, throwing six innings of two-run ball Wednesday, but now he’s headed to the disabled list with biceps tendinitis.

Josh Lindblom is expected to take Ogando’s place in the rotation beginning Monday, which is interesting because all 101 of his big-league appearances have come out of the bullpen. Lindblom has spent all of this season starting at Triple-A, however.

As for Ogando, he’s shown no signs of arm problems while starting nine games with a 3.08 ERA and 37/19 K/BB ratio in 50 innings. Ogando has alternated bullpen and rotation roles, starting this season and in 2011 after relieving in 2010 and 2012.
