The lineup has some very scary potential. Elvis, Martin, Profar, Choo and Rios can all run very well. I can see 30+ stolen bases from all of them plus we have the Beltre/Fielder combo now that attacks pitching from both sides. We don't really have a DH but those are easy to pick up and I'm not a huge Soto fan but everything else looks good. Arencibia has a lot of upside and brings his hot fiancee with him (singer for The Band Perry) so he can fill in for Treanor and his wife.

If you're unimpressed with this trade, then I'd suggest you go look at Choo's advanced metrics and statistics, especially in comparison to Kinsler's (whom he's essentially replacing in the lineup), and then reasses. The dude's a goddamned on-base wetdream, a skill that's not likely to decline throughout the rest of his career.
Yes, you're paying a lot, but Beltre's contract was considered an overpayment at the time, and is now firmly realistic, even casting his excellent performance aside. The economics of baseball are changing, quickly, and with the tv money coming in next year this shit really doesn't matter. get your head out of the economics of baseball 5, 7, or 10 years ago and this deal looks less absurd. Look at the player you're getting in return and the hole he fills in the lineup and it looks good. Look at the insignificance of the money to the rangers and it looks great. Look at who we beat out at less money and it looks like a steal. And look at who bats behind him, how well he reaches base, and how well those hitting behind him can knock on runs, and it looks like a goddamned albatross.
Only Cowboys fans could see a team go out, dominate a market, and improve the team and be unimpressed.

Choo would be the second best player on just about every team that isn't the Dodgers or Tigers and he'd be the #1 guy on several of them. His OBP% is 40 points higher than Michael Young's. It's a good pick up and considering he's better than anything that'll be available next season it's even better.
Now we need to talk about how to get Tanaka, or if nothing else we need to make sure he stays out of the AL West.

The Yankees just released Vernon Wells, he's going to make $21,000,000 this year and not have a team. The best part though is that the Angels are paying over $18 million of it.
He might be an okay option as a right handed DH if the Yankees will eat part of the remaining money owed. I'd feel good knowing he's taking the Angels to the cleaners and wearing a Rangers uniform.
Note that he's also an Arlington native and still lives there.
