ARoid singled in his 1st AB last night. Still didn't help the Yanks. With Mo about to retire and Jeter likely not too far behind, hopefully we can see the Yanks struggle with mediocrity for at least a few years, if not longer.
Nice job by the Rangers last night to win and pull within 2 games of Oakland. Hopefully some of the guys whose production has been down all year (Murphy) and more recently (Moreland) can fill some of the void left by Cruz.

Sweet!
Beltre got AL player of the month for July.
Texas Rangers sports news and analysis. Baseball updates, scores, schedules and stats on the Rangers.
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre, who batted .369 for July and led the American League in home runs with nine, was named AL Player of the Month for July.
It is Beltre’s fourth Player of the Month award. He last won last September.
From MLB’s official press release:
On July 4th, the 34-year-old went 3-for-4 with two home runs and two RBI as Texas edged the Seattle Mariners, 5-4, at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The multi-homer effort was his first of the season, and the two blasts moved him past Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio (361) for the 75th spot on the all-time home run list. The next night, the Dominican Republic native connected on his third homer in two days, this one a two-run
shot to lead the Rangers to a 10-5 win over the Houston Astros.
On July 30th, Adrian notched his 12th multi-hit game of the month, his fifth with at least three hits, along with two RBI and a walk as Texas claimed a 14-11 win in 10 innings over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in Arlington. With the Rangers trailing by a run with two outs in the ninth inning, Beltre singled through the left side to score Ian Kinsler to knot the score at 11-11, sending the game into extras in the eventual win for Texas.
Finally, Beltre displayed some walk-off magic when the 16-year veteran launched a solo homer leading off the bottom half of the ninth to give the Rangers a 2-1 victory over the Angels on July 31st, completing a three-game sweep of their A.L. West Division rivals, each tilt ending with a game-winning homer. According to Elias, the Rangers became the first team to have three straight wins end with game-winning homers since the 2004 Detroit Tigers. The walk-off blast was the seventh of Beltre’s career, and his first as a Ranger. He last accomplished the feat on August 25, 2008 with the Seattle Mariners.

Another injury setback will cause Texas Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis to miss the remainder of the 2013 season, the club announced Tuesday.
Lewis is scheduled to have surgery to remove bone spurs from his right hip. Most recently he has been rehabbing after undergoing surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in his right elbow in late July 2012.
“It’s come to a point where it’s affecting my mechanics and ability to perform at the big league level,” Lewis said in a conference call with reporters.
Rangers GM Jon Daniels said Lewis felt like he was putting his arm at risk by overcompensating for the hip injury, which affects Lewis’ delivery when throwing across his body.
Lewis, who said he no longer has soreness in his right arm, will be a free agent at the end of the season, but he and the Rangers said they would like for him to return in 2014.
“Absolutely we would like to have him back,” Rangers GM Jon Daniels said. “The door is definitely open. We think the world of this guy.”
On Saturday, Lewis made the fifth start on his current assignment with Double-A Frisco. He allowed two runs in five innings against San Antonio of the San Diego organization and again increased his workload by 15 pitches, throwing 86. Lewis was then scheduled to to start with Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.
Lewis signed a 1-year, $2 million deal in September 2012. He has pitched for the Rangers from 2002-2004 and 2010-2012. The Rangers’ Opening Day starter in 2012, Lewis went 6-6 with a 3.43 ERA in 16 starts before his season was cut short.
