Slipping back into that June funk again (I'm not sure that they ever really left it completely). They have played from behind six out of the last seven, losing all six (tonight makes 7 out of 8). The inability to drive runs home is completely mind-blowing -- 28th in the league and getting worse by the day. Pitching has been up and down, but it doesn't matter when the offense isn't producing runs. They had 9 hits the other night with only one run to show for. That is just sorry. Luckily Oakland has been losing as well. The Angels are slowly gaining ground, but they will be in the chase come season's end.

This is a team that just isn't playing well right now and has a really good shot to blow any chance at the post-season ("season's fucking over!) in the next few weeks as they enter a fairly tough stretch of games (even though any game is tough they way they are playing now). Luckily, they have a pretty soft schedule from mid to late August to (hopefully) make up for it.

Not whining, complaining or worrying. Just observing and thinking for now.

Garza not starting tonight for Chicago. A trade is all but completed, apparently. Wonder what they're giving up for someone who's just going to be a rental, and possibly not even needed when the rotation gets healthy (also assuming they make the playoffs). Too much, I'm sure.
