It's almost that time again. 1st regular season game is against the Lakers in LA on Tuesday the 30th.

It'll be interesting to see how well the team plays now with the addition of Mayo, Collison, and Kaman to the starting lineup.

Also, Dirk is having some issues with swelling in his right knee, again, and there is a good possibility that he'll need surgery before the end of the season depending on how well the conservative treatments work. Early reports are that if he has the surgery he will be out 3-6 weeks if everything were to go well.

Totally agree that they need to get the surgery out of the way early to avoid him missing to many games (especially in the middle of the season). I know there was an article about this on one of the blogs I read and it was suggested if they get it done early he would only miss games against "weaker" teams that we can win without him.

I do have high hopes that if the team can mesh together like the championship season, we have a good chance of going deep into the playoffs.

You don't know who OJ Mayo is? He was one of the most hyped draft picks in 2008 (#3 overall pick), picked up by the Grizzlies. Supposedly the #1 player in the NCAA at the time.

Dirk had his knee worked on today.... I think it's a good thing in the long term... now get back healthy and let's get to work! Supposedly, the schedule is pretty soft the first few weeks, so no time like the present.

Yeah, I'd rather get it out of the way than to have it done in the middle of the season. 6 weeks will put him out to early December. I think the Mavs should be able to survive that long...and playing without Dirk will allow the new pieces of the team to work together more and find out what they can do/are capable of. Not the most desirable start to the season, but it is what it is. Need another superstar. The Dirk era is nearly over.
