  • Julio Chavez vs. Sergio Martinez PPV

Anyone watching this? I know boxing is not as good as UFC. But these 2 are gonna put on, one hell of a show. I have been watching these 2 for a long time. I think Martinez is gonna win, but would not be surprised if Jr. wins. I have to work tomorrow night so I will have to wait on HBO re-airs it a week later.

Is Canelo under this card also?

are you kidding? boxing is x564654616 better then ufc!! (my opinion) . Im watching this tonight Martinez sounds like he wants to kill chavez, Im going for Martinez seeing how Chavez was given the belt & has not faced a p4p boxer to even have his belt. As for canelo vs lopez it will be free on showtime, it has a better undercard but main event is a miss match. So im going with lopez, Canelo was also given the belt and didin't earn it & Lopez has jumped 2 weight classes in less then 1 year. Chavez/Martinez will be hell in the ring man can't wait!!

I've followed Jr since his amateur days (yes, because of his dad) and I think he has a bright future. He has no reason to be cocky and that is annoying, but its better for boxing that he wins tonight. Martinez is 37 so he wont be in his prime for much longer. The sport needs young stars.

It's going to be tough but I hope Jr wins it.

Oh, and Pacquiao/Marquez IV is on!

chavez for sure has a bright future but he has been given everything. He has yet to face a p4p & is champ? Martinez on the other hand beat pavlik, cintron, & paul williams most rated p4p at the time of the bout. Not only that but they stripped Martinez of his belt & gave it to Chavez!! I like chavez but he has no room to down talk martinez, martinez is old but he didint start boxing until he was like 20 i think, so he has not been boxing that long. Not really looking foward to Pac/Jmm 4 , tierd of seeing marquez get robbed.

how is that possible seeing that he had no amatuer fight's? you mean early in his career? martinez schooled him relxaed the last round got caught but JR is not his father and couldnt pull off the win

Saul canelo Alvarez is a beast! a fight with cotto would be a good one as well against kirklaind and then a megafight with mayweather as long as he can stay out of trouble

Canelo is a man child. I can see Cotto being his next fight. 2 heavy punchers that will make this look like a throwback heavy weight fight.

I sure do miss the heavy weight division. Come back holyfield and tyson

I think cotto wins UD if against canelo. Cotto will come in & out the 12 rounds and Cruz to a easy win.

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. I dont want to turn this into a pissing contest since I think this is a good discussion about a great sport, but he fought "Maromero" Paez's son as an amateur. I remember watching the video.

I agree that canelo is a beast. Fighting Cotto would be a step in the wrong direction IMO. He beat up an old and washed up Margarito and everyone thought he was back on his game. Then Mayweather takes him to school and people still want to say that Cotto is an elite fighter. He's done folks.....

All of that is strictly my opinion and I know nothing about boxing.

cotto is not done, he was the champ @ 154 and lost to the #1 p4p in the world. It was not floyds first time coming up to 154 so he's not a small 154lbr. Cotto won a few rounds against floyd (usually his opponets win 1-3 rounds tops) , he reduced mayweather % connect ( the lowest its been in a long time ) shatterd floyds nose, and outboxed him in some rounds. If cotto was "washed" up then Manny would not have asked him for a "catchweight" for there next fight. He is still very dangerous @ 154 and think he has what it takes to beat canelo & maybe chavez.

no pissing contest bro your probably thinking of his younger brother Omar who fought and LOST 2 fights against jorge "maromero" paez jr it was not Julio jr hell it even says in the 24/7 show he had NO amatuer fights! heres the problem people here in the USA see a fighter get beat a couple of times and then their 'washed up" look at all the great MUAY THAI fighters records,MMA fighters records,K1 fighters ALL have many losses on their records they lose and go back and learn from it or hell maybe they just had a off night but bounce back to become champions again this use to happen back in the older days of boxing but now adays what we see is fighters being promoted for the big payday but opponents "chosen" carefully along the way, what really kills me is when the so-called experts justify early fight stoppages(BOXING) as "good stoppages" before a "sinceless beating" happens for the "safety" of the fighter? come on really? these guys are PAID TO FIGHT let them earn their damn checks! and its funny to hear about SAFETY in boxing and then you can click to MMA fights where ALL blows(except low blows and biting) are a go,hitting with small gloves kicking, kneeing, and elbowing the shit out of your opponent is all fair game! now my point is boxing(although a sport i grew up loving) is sissy shit compared to MMA fighting so those boxing experts calling for safety is really quite emabarassing dont you guys think?

ok back to the boxing match ups

Canelo is a bull relentless in offense and knows NO fear(as of yet lol) and would beat up the face and body of the war torn but battle tested rican in cotto who is a warrior himself and can box at times but would surely try to engage in a slugfest with the young mexican carrot top rhino and his face will fall apart and he will get broke down round by round but it would be a great fight and i have been wrong before

the pacman vs marquez fight 4 oh jesus christ why why why this shit just puts yet another NAIL in the coffen for boxing i will not watch it if its PPV and if it is please everybody dont buy this bullshit we can all watch it for free the next week!

                            I suck at the interwebz

                            [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kn_52um4ejA[/ame]

It's all opinion and I agree that MMA fighters can make a comback at late stages of their careers. I also think that we are comparing apples to oranges.

IMHO, I truly think that Cotto is done as an elite fighter. But then again, there aren't very many elite fighters anymore.

lol exhibition matches(no headgear,no score kept,no weight requirements) are not sanctioned amatuer bouts but still cool nonetheless

it maybe apples and oranges but both are fruits! meaning its the mentality of fighters in fighting sports it has nothing to do with comebacks though? cotto is far from being "done" maybe his heart isnt in it as much but being what the use to call a "shot" fighter nah far from it bro, a better example what be RJJ or franz botha, demarcus chop-chop corley, cory spinks hell even zab judah is borderline "shot" but he still has some fight left in him.
