Plenty of money and no one to take it, may as well snag what you can get. A little high in my opinion, but it beats nothing.

With a bunch of young players coming in the Jagr deal doesn't seem too bad. Hopefully he will rub off on some of them. He was as good as it gets in his day.

I'd agree if it were more than a year and he wasn't 40.

I think it was a great pickup. He hasn't had a bad season yet. Sure he is old, but there are alot of young guys that will learn from him. I am calling it now, stars will make the playoffs this season.

First part - Should have kept Modano around then. Unless he is a bad mentor - from mentoring not past experience.

            Second part - I hope you're right.

They seem to be treading water right now. I hope the fan base stays around. They have a decent team but when just making the playoffs is enough something is wrong.

I agree, I think Joe did Modano wrong though.

Parise and Suter both go to the Wild.

From my understanding Modano wasn't much of a mentor. One big hint is that with all the Stars records he holds, and all the time he spent here, he was never team captain. He was more of a "I'm just here to play" kind of guy, which was great while he was still at the top of his game.

Score of free agency right there.

Modano was captain of the team in 03-06.

Oops, guess you're right. I always thought he was just an Alternate Captain, but I guess he was a Captain for a couple of years. The part about me hearing that he wasn't much of a mentor was true though lol. Of course that's just what I heard, and that may be incorrect as well.

I remember how pissed my Mom was when they released Modano, I had never seen her get angry about hockey before.
