So if that's all she could afford to buy for him, you would condone committing a felony over the quality of clubs? Brilliant I must say.

Too cool. Wish I had a woman who'd buy me golf clubs

Yeah, I'm just now getting into golf and will probably never be good enough to justify buying a $1,000+ set of clubs. $250 and I have everything I need, equipment-wise, to get out on the course and see just how much I suck!

LOL! Wait'll you start hitting the ball better & shoot your first sub-100 without mulligans. And then another one. And another one. And then you start wondering why you see all the fitting commercials and different shafts and stroll into a Golfsmith and play with a new driver on a launch monitor... and then the sales guy says, "what FLEX do you play in your irons?"and you say "I dunno" and he hands you a few irons with different flexes and your constant hook/fade etc. goes away and suddenly... Your VISA card is bleeding from it's plastic anus and you can't slap the smile off your face as you tote your new gear to the driving range.

          This is what happens...

Yeah I need to get different shafts on my irons. Right now they are regular steel shaft. I think I'm going with stiff steel shafts.

I'm always open to upgrading as needed, but until I can fix my swing errors, and learn more overall about how to actually play consistently, my cheap set of clubs will be just fine.

My point exactly. Wait'll you start doing stuff that finally comes together equalling solid rounds. Still remember my first 44 9 holes, my first sub-100, my first sub-90, my first eagle... Golf is very addictive.

I still haven't made an eagle yet. I've had several chances but nothing within 20 feet.

                                One hole-out eagle @ Bear Creek, one driver/3 iron/made putt on a par 5 @ Fossil.
