  • Bill Cowher to the Texans?

I think that would be a pretty damn good fit..

As we reported on Sunday, former Steelers coach Bill Cowher isn't a candidate to coach the Dallas Cowboys.

As we reported on Sunday, former Steelers coach Bill Cowher isn’t a candidate to coach the Dallas Cowboys. But there are two teams in Texas, and the other team in Texas could be looking for a new coach come January.

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reiterated on Tuesday that the Lone Star State has become the most likely destination for Cowher.

“I told you awhile back that Texas is his most likely landing spot — Houston, Texas,” Bouchette writes. “And last night’s game made him even more inviting for those Texans.”

Some may think that coach Gary Kubiak will survive despite the team’s disappointing 5-8 record, since he received a contract extension last year. But so did Brad Childress in Minnesota.

A move to Cowher also could mean the end of G.M. Rick Smith’s run. Five years ago, it was believed that owner Bob McNair opted not to fire coach Dom Capers and G.M. Charley Casserly simultaneously, since doing so would have underscored that both hires were mistakes. As a result, Capers was fired and Casserly “resigned” after the next draft.

Don’t be shocked if a similar approach is applied in 2011, with Smith sticking around through April before stepping aside.

It's okay... Houston actually had Denver's sloppy seconds considering Kubiak was with Denver before Houston :P

Kubiak played for Denver and was a back up his entire career to John Elway. He was the 49ers QB coach in 1994 and then went to Denver and was the offensive coordinator from 1995 - 2005. So you can make that 3 Super Bowls for Kubiak

I was referring to the head coaching position, not the fact that he hadn't been to Denver before. I would be surprised if Denver picked him up with all the available HC's out there.

I think him and Pat Bowlen have a pretty good relationship so it would make sense considering he already knows the system. Also I think if that happens they will bring Elway into the front office.

You can keep him. Wait til the first game you are on a potential game winning drive and "Kube" decides to run on 3rd and 16.

I would love to have Cowher. Any decent OC could produce great results with our offensive talent. We have the one of the top RBs and the best WR in the game not to mention Schaub would easily be in the top 10 QB's. We need a good defensive mind and Cowher fits the bill.

If it was that easy then they would have more than 1 winning season under the belt by now.

Read my post again. Its not about the offense. The defense lets teams walk into the end zone. The top offensive team in the league rarely goes all the way. And the worst defense never goes.
