The Saint's might as well just forfeit the season and tell Goodell to lick their nuts.

That objective is illegal, and as you can tell by the punishment handed down, will not be tolerated, period. The game has changed if you didn't know. This isn't the 70's, 80's, 90's, or even the 00's. The league is cracking down on shit like this, including helmet to helmet and blatant dirty hitters. If you're unsure, you can go check out all the fines that have been handed out the past couple of years for all the infractions. When you do you'll find that on the whole it is a select few that continue to push the limits of this legality. Otherwise, every defense player out there would be getting penalized every game for cheap shots, dirty hits, etc.

I know it's hard for some to believe, but most players are not out there to injure or knock an opposing player out of the game. Sure, there are a few, and obviously there are some bounty programs that are still out there, for now. However, most players these days have mutual respect for their competition and have not only gamesmanship about them, but also self respect as they realize they're looked upon by our youth as role models and hero's.

Bullshit. They're trying to hit him as hard as they can (legally) before he gets rid of the ball.

Agreed, its one thing to go out there and say hey our objective is to disrupt him, to make him uncomfortable, and to make him feel some pain. Its another to intentionally take him out of the game and put a bounty on his head for you to win.

Have you ever watched an NFL game? Ask an O-lineman if the NFL is violent. They aren't exactly picking roses out there.

Random question: In ya'lls opinions was BountyGate or SpyGate worse? Just curious to see what ya'll think between the two.

Bountygate for a couple reasons. This is from the NFL's perspective but I see why they did what they did. First off, they were busted 2 years ago and were told by the NFL to stop and they didnt. Thats a slap in the face to authority. Secondly, NFL players are suing the NFL for concussions and saying the NFL doesnt care about player saftey so Goodell will make sure that the public doesnt percieve that.

I think if the Saints got busted fixing games or something not related to player saftey then it wouldnt have been as bad assuming coaches werent warned to stop. When I tell my kids to stop doing something the punishment always gets worse everytime I have to repeat myself, no different here.

Bellicheck got caught cheating, no ones saftey was at risk with pending lawsuits at bay. Also that was his first offense, not like he was caught then did it again.

                    • So I guess the snitch was Jeremy Shockey, this is from the NFL Network

Warren Sapp: I was sitting in the production meeting getting ready for the day and my source that was close to the situation informed me that Jeremy Shockey was the snitch initially. So I went with that. I trust my source unequivocally because he is right on top of the situation. I understand what this is. Shockey comes out and says that he's not. We just found out who 'Deep Throat' was and he almost died. I understand. Whenever you inform something of this caliber, your identity should be protected, but I was given that information and I went with it by a reliable source that I know.

Rich Eisen: Does it matter? Is that what players in that locker room are thinking about right now?

Sapp: No. They should be ducking making sure that they are not in the wake of these punishments that are coming out because as we see, the Commissioner is dead serious about the integrity of our game and the safety of the players. Rightfully so, and so on with the punishments. And if you are in that line, you'd better duck.

Eisen: The league also says that it did not speak with Jeremy Shockey.

Sapp: I did not call anybody at the league and ask them a thing and did not receive any information from them.

Eisen: But you believe from your source that Jeremy Shockey was the individual?

Sapp: That's the information I got and I trust my source.

This. Might as well change the name to the NFFL and put flags on their hips at the rate Roger Goodell is ruining the league.

                          Shockey is denying it.

BTW, anyone notice that Sapp's Twitter account is @QBKILLA

Are you referring to the players not knowing how to tackle and "tackling" by launching their shoulder towards the other player to get him to the ground?
