Lee signs with the Phillies

I don't know why a badass pitcher would want to get lost in an overly crowded rotation. Seems like a Cy Young winner would like to stand out, guess he's afraid that he's going to blow it under pressure now that he's getting older. Nothing like Halliday in front of you to bail you out of high pressure situations.

Sucks a fat one that philly had to get us twice in one weekend, over two seperate sports.

The last memory for me of Cliff Lee as a Ranger will always be him giving up a 3 run home run to a guy that shoulda been walked. IMHO.

He was 4-5 with a 3.98 ERA during the regular season in 15 starts with the Rangers. Seemed to be lights out, or pretty bad (back issues I know). In the playoffs he was really good versus Rays/Yanks. Had some struggles in the Series.

He will be missed I think. This offseason is not helping my confidence for next season. Are the young guys ready to step it up in the big leagues? Trade away the farm system for Zach? Garza?

Not sure if Greinke would even consider since he would know he was playing second fiddle behind Lee in trying to get a deal here.

I dunno why not. He'd go to a team that's a legit playoffs/WS contender from one that hasn't mattered in over a decade, maybe even two.

I dont have any ill will to Lee for going to the Phillies. Im just suprised he went there. I didnt read or hear one thing that mentioned the Phillies in the running. Im just glad he didnt go to the Yankees and didnt take all the money. Yea Im dejected to not have him, but he didnt pull a Lebron. He didnt go on TV and make his decision, he made it with his family and his agent. He took less money, and honestly the Phillies are now in better shape to not win just 1 but a couple of Championships. The Yankees cant even compete with what the Phillies have now.

Pavano or make a play for Garza. Apparently the Rangers made a push for him last night but it fell through.

People are also saying that either Ogando or Feliz are moving to the rotation so that will leave a huge hole in the bullpen and the Rangers have never been a team to pay premium pricing for relief pitching.

The Rangers are going after Chien-Meng Wang even though he didn't pitch in 2010 because of shoulder surgery.

I think we need to make a solid push for Garza again if we don't have what the Royals want for Greinke. Pavano should be an easy sign with all the money we have from not signing Lee.

This offseason has been exciting but it sucks to see every move fall through other than Yorvit Torrealba... and I wouldn't necessarily call him a huge upgrade over Treanor.
