  • Colts hardcore rebuilding

ESPN is reporting that the Colts have released Dallas Clark, Joseph Addai, Melvin Bullit, Gary Bracket, and Curtis Painter. They are also shopping Dwight Freeney. Reggie Wayne is expected to be released, and of course we all know about Peyton Manning. Pierre Garcon, Jeff Saturday, and Ryan Diem are all still being decided on as well.

I would expect the Colts to keep Garcon, but I don't know much about Saturday or Diem's situations. I would be shocked if they let both lineman go though.

Does anyone else think that they may be over-reacting to last season? Manning is out the entire season, and they had a terrible year. Is it really that surprising though? They had no back-up QB on the roster. I mean they have been a play-off team over and over until last season, so it seems kind of foolish to just start over after one unfortunate year. They easily could have kept Peyton, and the others (Not Painter, he sucks). Traded their first pick for 3 first rounders and a second like the Rams did, and stack up some great new players. All the while keeping thier main core of players that have done so well for so long. Use one of the 2nd round picks on a good back-up for Peyton, and have been set with extra 1st round picks for three years.

That way rather than having to start completely over, it would have been a nice smooth transition to a younger group of talent.

They were getting old, but I bet most those guys would be fine if peyton played last year. Should be interesting to see if one team can pick up manning, wayne, and Clark.

I'm not surprised by any of these names being released or shopped. Out with the old and in with the new.

Not shocking at all. They were 2-14 without Manning.

Im willing to bet they wind up right back where they started. Great QB, decent team and no backup contingency plan. Luck gets hurt down the road and they blow another season.
