I'm inclined to agree. The Ranger's had their shot two years in a row, and failed. Very few members of the team are playing up to the standards they set two years ago. IF they should lose tonight, I would like to see a new manager next year. I'm not placing the blame on Washington, but you can't fire the team, and his flaws showed up more than ever this season, IMHO.

    • Well the game is at fucking 2:35pm our time today.

      TEX: Dempster (12-8, 3.18)
      OAK: Griffin (7-1, 2.71)

THIS right here! I've seen more first ball hitting into double plays and infield ground balls than I've seen the past two seasons. They aren't making the opposing pitchers work very hard. Its easy to pitch deep into a game when you are sitting them down about as fast as they are getting off the bench. Our performance running the bases has been HORRENDOUS as well. Nothing like we were the last two seasons. Everyone looks tired and wore out. Maybe 2 unsuccessful post season runs all the way to the WS have taken their toll?

          • Silly question, because I just don't know the new wild card system, but if they lose tonight, are they in the win and your in wild card game?

I believe so... correct me if I'm wrong but whoever loses today will face the O's or Yanks in the WC I think.

                Yes.

While I don't really agree that Warsh should be fired as he brings a good energy to the team (though they seem quite lifeless now), he certainly might need to sit down with a retired manager over the summer and get taught some shit.

I have wondered this over the last couple of seasons, as is deficiencies have been all too apparent in critical situations. What difference would a new manager have. One that would more than likely be much more emotional through the down times. How would the team react, will they still have fun and be laid back? Or, would the team respond well to someone pushing them through these slumps....

                      • ESPN post eviscerating Warsh. I've been on the anti-Michael Young band wagon for quite awhile -- longer than half the season. He's the worst DH in baseball. It's a fact. Kinsler pisses me off in two ways and Warsh's unwillingness to move him to the lower half of the lineup and let someone else (Andrus, hello?!) lead-off hurts the team as well.

The Texas Rangers took over possession of first place in the American League West on April 9, the fourth game of the season. They held that position every day since then, all by themselves, 182 consecutive days.

Gentry should be leading off IMO.

We just got the kiss of death. Barry Larkin picked us to win today.

                            • I believe the Rangers are going to be steamrolled by Oakland today. It will be yet another classic Dallas-area team meltdown. Only the Mavericks have managed to pull through it (one time) and these Rangers just don't have the sack to get it done. Performance on the field the past month has just been horrible.

I'm hoping for a win, but they've already missed two golden opportunities to seal the deal. Why should today be any different?

Aren't they still the first wildcard, even without a win?
