Since we're talking orders, why not move Kinsler to 2 and Elvis to 1? I can't remember the last time Kinsler got a leadoff hit or walk.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

I dont know, thats tough. I think Kinsler still leads the league in runs scored. Plus I think he is a much better baserunner than Andrus. He has a knack for getting into scoring position.

Seriously? Kinsler is a horrendous baserunner.

Horrendous? His fielding is horrendous, not his baserunning. He is very aggressive, and sometimes that leads to mistakes. He hits a ton of doubles, steals a lot of bases(including 3rd) and leads the team in runs by a decent margin. Exactly what you want you leadoff hitter to do.

He gets picked off more than any player I can remember seeing, and he has a habit of picking bad moments to get picked off. He's a 71% base stealer on a 72% team (in a 73% MLB), so he's smack dab average.

When he's good on the bases he's good, but when he's bad he's really bad. And I'm not convinced that those are the qualities you want in your leadoff hitter. Drawing a leadoff walk and then getting picked off immediately thereafter (has happened at least 3 times this season) is the very definition of horrendous.

Andrus and Gentry both get on base far more often than Kinsler (.370 and .412 to Kinsler's .337). Andrus and Kinsler are both essentially in a dead head in stealing (Andrus is 16 for 22, Kinsler is 15 for 21). Kinsler's lone edge is in total bases, which speaks further to the fact that he should be batting farther back in the lineup.

True, didnt think about the getting picked off thing. The more I think about it the more I like Gentry in the leadoff spot

                        Gentry - CF
                        Andrus - SS
                        Hamilton -LF
                        Beltre - 3B
                        Cruz - RF
                        Kinsler - 2B
                        Young - DH
                        Napoli - C
                        Snyder(Just until Moreland is back) - 1B

BUT...Washington will never make this many changes. It took half the season just to swap Cruz/Young, and I am not even sure that is permanent

Now you're talking. It'd be a bold move given that he still hasn't played every day and we haven't seen him struggle yet (and thus see how he can bounce back from a slump), but I'd like to see him get a chance up there.

Then again, there's something to be said for having his bat and speed down at the bottom of the lineup.

Like seeing three fast guys back to back to back before facing Butterfingers and the rest of the "pop" in the lineup. Makes things difficult for the pitcher.
