  • Phillies are selling hard... Victorion to LA, Pence to SF, Blanton probably going to Baltimore....
Doesn't sound like the Rangers are involved in much action right now.

    • So did Lee get stuck with the last-place Phillies?

        Just saw the Pence thing.

Dempster to LA is apparently being finalized right now. "Dotting Ts and crossing Is" was how it was phrased.

        • MLB.com reporting that if Sin-Soo Choo is dealt today, it will be to the Rangers. Not a bad pickup if it's for the right price, actually, although it further clogs up the ugly bench situation we have going on in the outfield.

Yes, Lee is "stuck" with the team that had the ability to lock him in to a contract.

The Phillies should be honored to pay him $25 million a year for the next 4 years.

RAJ is a dumbass when it comes to contracts for aging players. Sounds like he's done pretty wellhis first time selling at the deadline though.

                • Choo deal doesn't seem likely, the Indians want a major leaguer with less than 3 years service time. Rangers aren't giving that up unless it's Alberto Gonzalez...

Fine by me anyway. That would present far more headaches than solutions. He and David Murphy are stastical twins this season (Choo: .291 BA, 12 HR, 39 RBI; Murph: .289, 34 RBI, 9 HR; OPSs are within 5 points of each other), and Choo only represents a 10% improvement over Murphy if you take career numbers.

                  • I'd rather see them stick with Murphy.

As would I. Same player statistically, clubhouse loves Murph, Murph is under contract through 2014, and he hasn't been in jail recently.

                      • What's left:

                        - Blanton sounds like he's not going anywhere, certainly not to the rangers
                        - I hope to god the rangers don't pick up Broxton. Wildly inconsistent, and I think his stats look better than he really is this year
                        - Rafael Betancourt is still out there and wouldn't be a bad bullpen acq
                        - Gregorson in SD has been thrown out there, but they don't seem to be sellers

Not sure what other options the Rangers have for pen help, that's all I can come up with. Then again, JD and crew are pretty good about keeping a low profile and not letting information out, so there's a good chance their move will be for someone we haven't heard about yet.

Maybe Nolan is coming out of retirement.

He's fine just where he is. Next to the dugout and Bush.

LOL! His arm may be gone, but he's probably still got the balls to make up for it.
