Just my observations as an outsider who likes Texas: If you leave Mack in place long enough, he will drive the program into the side of a mountain. Yes, he built it up and got it to the top, but if you let him, he will ride it all the way back down wanting just "one more great season" before he retires. He'll set your program back 5 years before the one more great season comes. Pat him on the back, wish him well, thank him, and get him the fuck out of Austin before he becomes Texas' answer to Joe Pa.

Major was at the Cibilo Steele game watching top recruit Malcom Brown while all of this was going down. So i doubt he's going to Florida.


Hopefully, it's Byan Harsin as the new O.C. If not, then Applewhite. And Randy Shannon gets the D.C. job. I'd be ok with that.

I remember thinking the whole "head coach in waiting" was a nice gesture but questioned if it would be enough for him to stick around the next couple of years if/when a high profile job presented itself. Looks like I have my answer. Taking Applewite and potentially others just makes it worse.

So whats the deal with recruits? If they signed an LOI, can they simply backout of it if they want? (because of the coaching change)

LOI isn't official....they can go wherever they please. They cannot COMMIT until after the first of the year.
