  • Colts are expected to release Peyton Manning

ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter Thursday morning that "people around the league" expect the Colts to release Peyton Manning before his $28 million option bonus comes due on March 8.
"Most people around the league now expect (Manning to be cut)," Schefter said. "It's a near-certainty." Manning is not expected to be healthy before the payout comes due, and he isn't worth the $35.4M gamble (roster bonus plus salary) when the Colts will be drafting his successor with the No. 1 overall pick in April, anyway. "Every single sign points to Peyton Manning leaving Indianapolis," Schefter reiterated. Look for the Dolphins and Cardinals to be the NFL's two most interested teams once Manning hits free agency.

In all seriousness, if I was San Fran, he would be a Niner as quick as possible.

Shit I wouldn't want to give him any money period, he's too much of a risk imo. Fuck if I were Manning i'd just stay home. Why risk it?

Why not give him 5 or 6 mill for a year or two to see if it works? I mean, if he is willing to put himself in harms way, give him a chance. I don't think giving him a 1 or 2 year contract is a huge risk compared to the possible reward

                    If he's healthy, why not?

Peyton at 60% > Alex Smith at 100%.... haha

One good hit away from a wheelchair. I would retire with grace and be done with it. Its probably worst than what they are saying. He has to turn his body just to look around.

To clarify, if you pay him 5~6 mil for 2 years or whatever i'm assuming they are going to start him. When he inevitably gets fucked up, what are you gonna do than?

With Williams and Thomas already coming out and saying they were targeting Williams due to his concussions, what makes you think Peyton won't receive the same treatment from other teams. They just might not be so vocal about it.

If you are an owner, are you more concerned about his well-being, or the money you may lose from his injury?

I bet alot of owners will pay him regardless.
