  • Longhorn fans: Johnathon Gray

His dad, James, was an All-American at Texas Tech, but Texas commit Johnathan Gray is out to top that.

Can't wait to see him next year with Brown and Bergeron in the backfield

BTW, you can watch him play Thursday night at 6:30 along with 9 other UT commits in the UnderArmor game

The #1 JUCO QB is going to be in Austin Saturday to talk to the coaches about going to Texas. If so, he'll enroll this month

Wasn't Gilbert the #1 QB when he commit to Texas?

Out of highschool, yes. Actually, it depended on which recruiting service you looked at, some had Barkley as #1

With all the talent Texas has on campus and coming in next year, they don't need a badass QB, just a decent one. I believe Ash can be just that

I don't. I have zero faith in Ash. Just like I had zero faith in Gilbert. Powerful arm but slow release just doesn't fly at the college level or higher. Ash is fast as hell but can't move laterally for shit. McCoy is slow, but has more sense when throwing the football and would be a better QB than Ash to compliment a good run game.

However, UT's receivers aren't exactly elite either. Shipley will be good if he can get a little stronger, faster, and stay healthy.

There's a lot of "#1's" recruited all over the country that don't pan out. I was a HUGE critic of Gilbert, but I do think Ash is a little better. He's not the answer to the QB position, but they did manage a bowl game win, which is an improvement.

LOL @ fast as hell. And McCoy is not the future. In fact, i bet he already has most of his dorm room cleaned out. There is a reason why Mack and Harsin are wanting Bo Wallace to come in for a talk Saturday and i believe it's so they can redshirt Connor Brewer

and for the record, i think it's funny how a lot of fans are already blowing off Ash as a TRUE freshman. As if there is no way possible for him to get better. Hell, he started the year as the 4th string QB and wasn't even suppose to play this year. Now, i'm not saying he will be THE MAN, i'm just not putting him in the "bust" catagory just yet. Remember, at most Universities, kids don't start until their Junior year. Not everyone can be a Colt McCoy or Kellen Moore.

I agree with this 100%. It's too bad John Harris got hurt because he showed some potential before breaking his ankle. Now, if Texas can somehow reel in Dorial Green-Beckham, that would give Texas the #1 WR in the nation and the top 3 WR's in the state. And i believe Cayleb Jones and Thomas Johnson are ranked in the top 15 nationally, but don't hold me to that.

On a funny side note (maybe not haha funny), i never thought before the season i would say this, but i missed having Malcom Williamss on the team this year.

I'm happy with this recruiting class. Now if we can get them to all sign I will be happy.
Tired of all the years we say we got this guy and on signing day he signs with someone else.

Wr is something in glad to see we are getting. White out of Dunbar never lived up to his name.

                      I read that today. Why?

                      I like Ash at QB

If you're seriously asking why, it's to get some more bodies at the QB position. All signs are pointing to McCoy leaving the team and i don't think the coaches want to be in the same boat next year if Ash happens to get hurt. Plus, they really want to redshirt Brewer. I would say it's also to get seperation in classes, but Wallace would come in as a redshirt soph.

I want Brewer to redshirt, but he's been running the Bryan Harsin offense since Junior High, so he might come in looking better than Ash.

Speaking of McCoy leaving, it's being reported on Hookem.com that Harsin has already called Wallace and offered him a scholorship. So, i guess Case is leaving?

Scratch that, Wallace isn't going to make the visit. Coaches said they're OK with what they have. Are you fucking kidding me? Great, another 8 win season in 2012 unless Ash can keep getting better(which is possilbe)
