It’d be fun to take the Garrett haters back to 1960 (or 61, 62, 63, 64, 65) to see if the same geniuses would be screaming for Landry’s head on a stick. Were they screaming for Jimmy’s job after 1-15? Hindsight is a bitch. Is Garrett the long term answer? – I don’t know. Nobody does. Garrett is a first year head coach (at any level) so I expect some growing pains. As long as I sense a trend of improvement I can be patient.

IMO this poll should be aimed at Rob Ryan and his shit defense.

The issue with Ryan is that the defensive secondary sucks. With any decent speed and talent in the Secondary, it wouldn't be happening. He's having to cal plays based on their abilities. The ability sucks. Rob Ryan is a defensive genius. The talent is severely lacking. It's all too easy to say "Ryan's shit defense". Statistically, they are leaps and bounds better than Wade's defense. And remember, Rob was only allowed two changes to the defensive personnell. Elam and the DR, can't recall his name. Neither make much, are mediocre, and not who his first choices were. Those were salary decisions. And still better than who we had there before. Everyone calling Ryan's Defense shitty, is forgetting how lackadaisical, lazy, and non blitzing Wade's D was. How quickly we forget.

Let's not forget about all the stupid defensive penalties the players themselves are bringing on the team. One of them will make a great play, a great stop, a great pass break-up, and then they pull a schmuck move and get into a shoving match, etc, get flagged for 15 yards and give the other team a fresh set of downs. Lots of teams do it, but it seems like it has come at the most inopurtune time for the Cowboys this season. And with many of their games going down to the wire this year, that's one thing they have control of that they should be nipping in the bud. Just my 2 cents.

Anyone that can assist in helping the cowboys snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is fine by me. It's been a good year. Makes for awesome Mondays.

When flatfooted Eli can drop back 47 times and not be sacked I think the problem lies somewhere other than the secondary. The Cowboy’s dbs are pedestrian at best but even the best corners in the league are going to get beat when the front 7 aren’t applying consistent pressure. (see the Eagles for an example of this)

Fundamentally the Cowboys don’t have the personnel to run a consistently successful 3-4, and they never have. For some reason the Cowboys adopted the assbackwards philosophy of using premium picks on linebackers while using a cast of spares on the D-line. Ray Lewis in his prime couldn’t make any plays if he had Marcus Spears getting pushed into his lap every play. And, of course, the Cowboys didn’t draft a slew of Ray Lewis’ – they got Booby Carpenter and Spencer. Ratliff is a player on the D-line – but he’s out of position.

The Cowboys need to go all defense in the next off-season and make the acquisition of a real nosetackle (think 6’4” - 340lbs) their #1 priority. A consistent push up the middle would greatly help the virtually nonexistent pass rush. Move Ratliff to end – with Ware on the same side and add in another (pass rushing) defensive end and the front 7 might be able to take some of the pressure of the beleaguered back end. Throw in a corner (or 2) that have actual cover skills and Ryan’s defense might actually start to be effective.

I agree completely. Situational awareness and discipline needs improvement on both sides of the ball. And Romo needs to plant his ass in the first row. Apparently so does Garrett.

I was more so trying to emphasize that Ryan is doing the best he can with what he walked in to.

I disagree completely… the Cowboys had a more effective defense earlier in the season when Ryan was keeping things simple. Once he started throwing the entire playbook at his defense the breakdowns started happening, confidence eroded and the now the wheels have completely flown off. If Ryan hadn’t been so intent on showing everyone just how much of a defensive genius he is he might have adjusted his defensive philosophy over the short term to better match the skill sets of the players being fielded.

You have some solid points, but you're still holding Ryan responsible for personnel decisions that were made YEARS before he got here. It's hardly his fault. He can only do what cap space allows. It wasn't there

Jenkins was healthy early on. Now he stuck relyin on Scandrick, Newman, Church, etc. don't forget about Lee missing time. Wheels came off when the starters going down. Yes, play calling changed. It had to. Scandrick isn't Hal the player Jenkins is. Brooking isn't half the player Lee is at this point in time. Didn't Ware miss some time as well?

Theres things you aren't mentioning that had major effects.

John Kitna was put on IR today. If Romo were to go down Stephen McGee will be the backup.

God help us if McGee sees any playing time.

You think I don't know that and everyone with a half a brain knows as well. My point was that I would be a MAN about it and not look to or call anyone out. I want honest opinions on the subject.

Don't make me call Dr. Dave in here to bitch slap you...
