Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has emphatically squashed speculation that a loss to the Giants could cost head coach Jason Garrett his job, The Dallas Morning News reported Friday.
The winner of Sunday night's clash at MetLife Stadium will win the NFC East and host a playoff game the following week, while the loser's season will end.
Jones said any idea that the second-year coach could be fired is "just ridiculous," adding that the franchise is "just getting started" with Garrett as the head coach.
Even if the Cowboys were to be blown out by the Giants, Jones said his stance will not change.
"We're going to answer this thing as many ways as you want to answer, with as many circumstances," Jones said on his weekly radio show on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
"His job has no bearing and is not a part of this ballgame. Yes, he's going to be our coach next year, period. No matter what the score is."
Garrett is 8-7 in his first full year as coach of the Cowboys after replacing Wade Phillips midway through last season.
The former offensive coordinator has guided quarterback Tony Romo to a career-high 102.2 rating this season, and the team ranks ninth in total offense.
The Giants won the first meeting in Dallas 37-34 in Week 14, rallying from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

Cowgirls will never win if you guys want a new coach every freaking year. No new coach can take a team to the playoffs yet alone the Super Bowl first year.
All the players have to learn new plays, ect.
Look how long it took Johnson to get the cowgirls to their first Super Bowl under his coaching

I was agreeing with his initial sentence of "wont ever win if we fire coaches every year"
That list looks great and all but there are plenty of successful coaches that arent on that list and went on to have great careers.

LOL, well that's great and all, but I was responding to his claim that "No new coach can take a team to the playoffs yet alone the Super Bowl first year", which I put in bold in my response to him. Where you came up with the fact that anyone was talking about successful coaches that have had great careers is beyond me. Are you sure you're even posting in the right thread?

Now if we were rebuilding he could have time to coach from the seat of his pants as he goes but to take over a team with more than enough talent you should have no rookie problems.

Are we not talking about if Jerry should fire Jason Garrett? I said there have been plenty of good coaches who didnt go to playoffs or SB first year. Im making a generalized point. Do you honestly not see how that pertains to this thread?
