It's possible, but not likely. They have done everything they could tonight. A goose egg would have been nice for Brent's team. All my OSU coworkers are probably past cloud 9.

The loss is "worse" than Alabama's, but they have more top 25 wins, a harder schedule (IIRC), and it would be a decisive victory either way in the MNC. IF Alabama were to go to the champ. game and win, who is REALLY the NC? They've split the series 1-1 at that point.

To build on that, Saban said years ago that a team should have no shot at the champ. game if they don't even qualify for their conference champ. game. I guess he's had a change of heart since then .

If people want to harp on this playoff idea, you can't possibly support Alabama getting a rematch against LSU.

I didn't say they COULD play LSU for the conference championship. What I did say is that anyone in favor of a playoff system can't possibly root for a rematch. Alabama had their shot and lost, simple as that. If LSU routs OSU for a national championship, then congrats to LSU. They are the only undefeated team in the land that's worth a shit and earned the true Nat'l Championship. IF they happen to lose, congrats to OSU who happened to have their number. Either way, neither team got a "do-over."
