  • Arrest warrant issued for WR Terrell Owens

SAN FRANCISCO - An arrest warrant was issued for Terrell Owens(notes) after he failed to show up for a court date regarding child support payments.

Diana Bianchini, a spokeswoman for Owens, said Saturday the free-agent wide receiver tried to reschedule an Oct. 24 hearing in Contra Costa County Court because he had set up a televised workout in the hopes of hooking on with an NFL club. No teams attended the workout.

According to Bianchini, Owens was looking for a new lawyer and was representing himself while trying to change the court date. She said his new lawyers will deal with the warrant issued this week.

Bianchini said Owens is seeking to modify his child support payments because they were based on the approximately US$12 million a year he was making in 2007 when he played for the Dallas Cowboys.

The 37-year-old Owens has been rehabilitating a left knee injury that required surgery. He played 14 games for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, making 72 receptions and scoring nine touchdowns.

He couldn't wait to step in as the new Maston, papapepper, etc. I guess it's true. The board needs dummies, or we'd get bored.

What is crazy, is the guy was 36 last year and still had 9 touchdowns. Why is everyone not touching him? Unless his ego is so big still, and people think he will be another bad apple on a team, I don't see why teams aren't trying to pick him up.

I heard some team with a star on their helmet needs a wideout.

Perhaps he physically isn't there. I don't know what he looked like in his workout. Also, you have to look at what a team might gain or lose from adding him. If a team is in position to make a deep run in the playoffs and just needs another solid receiver, then it's probably worth the price. If they're not a playoff team, then why not give a young guy the chance (for a lot less) and play the Andrew Luck sweepstakes instead.

Look at teams that are on the playoff bubble and see if they need a WR. Baltimore? Nope. Pittsburgh? Nope. Detroit? Nope. Philly? Nope. Dallas? Not if they get healthy and play plus they aren't going down that road again. New Orleans? Nope. Atlanta? Nope. San Diego? Nope. You get the idea...

People like him always remind me of the sign you see that says, "Do not feed the animals." Right next to it is usually some idiot stuffing his arm through the bars to feed a lion a cheeseburger.

i dont like Terrell Owens, period. He isnt going to get another shot on a super bowl caliber or even playoff caliber team cause of his checkered past and what he has done in the locker room. I guess he should've been more focused on his personal business than on his football career.
