Something that hasn't been mentioned, is that the ball off of Beltre's foot looked like it hit the foul portion of the batter's box before it went into play.
I'm sure Nash will tell me to shut up again, but here goes.
On Hamilton. He is hurt, watch the way he reacts after every missed swing. That groin injury is holding him back. C.J. pitched well enough to get the win from what I could tell. Carpenter didn't pitch as well as I had expected, seeing as how he is their ace. Lots of balls, however, he was able to locate his pitches when it counted. Its still a WTF on the German move, kind of like putting Endy in, in the last series on a "gut feeling".

Right or wrong?
it hit him so its foul but it was so close that he didnt see it.

it hit his foot so it should have foul, but as far as what you are saying if the ump didnt see it hit him, no, i think the rule is the batter's box is irrelevant to judging a foul ball unless it makes contact with the batter.

relax guys, its game 1. Its not like Game 1 against Tampa Bay where we got beat bad at home. Rangers were in this game, could've won it but give the Cardinals credit. I will say they did get 2 big breaks in this game on balls that were foul that were called fair. We win tomorrow then its 1-1 going home
Los Angeles Rams 11-5
Last Game - Loss vs. San Fransisco
Up Next - vs. Atlanta

I agree with you, except for the pitchers. Wilson didn't pitch well enough to get a win tonight. He was pitching against an ace, and he's shown throughout the postseason that he can be a decent pitcher but he's not good enough to go head to head with a really good pitcher. Carpenter's only mistake was a belt-high, outside corner pitch to Napoli.

Which 2 foul balls were those? The only one that they missed was the one that Beltre hit off the tip of his foot, and if they don't see it (it took a few different angles and several replays before the commentators saw it), they can't call it.

it took that stupid infrared camera i made fun of!
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but is CJ Wilson the only MLB player to lose in the ALDS, ALCS, AND World Series game 1 starts?? I heard a snippet of this on The Fan earlier.
He got no decision in both of the ALCS Game 1s he pitched.
the double that berkman hit in the 4th inning the ball hit foul right outside the batter box then went fair. Clearly you could see it bounce foul.
It was a single, and it was fair.
A FAIR BALL is a batted ball that settles on fair ground between home and first base, or between home and third base, or that is on or over fair territory when bounding to the outfield past first or third base, or that touches first, second or third base, or that first falls on fair territory on or beyond first base or third base, or that, while on or over fair territory touches the person of an umpire or player, or that, while over fair territory, passes out of the playing field in flight.
A fair fly shall be judged according to the relative position of the ball and the foul line, including the foul pole, and not as to whether the fielder is on fair or foul territory at the time he touches the ball.
Rule 2.00 (Fair Ball) Comment: If a fly ball lands in the infield between home and first base, or home and third base, and then bounces to foul territory without touching a player or umpire and before passing first or third base, it is a foul ball; or if the ball settles on foul territory or is touched by a player on foul territory, it is a foul ball. If a fly ball lands on or beyond first or third base and then bounces to foul territory, it is a fair hit.
Clubs, increasingly, are erecting tall foul poles at the fence line with a wire netting extending along the side of the pole on fair territory above the fence to enable the umpires more accurately to judge fair and foul balls.
A FOUL BALL is a batted ball that settles on foul territory between home and first base, or between home and third base, or that bounds past first or third base on or over foul territory, or that first falls on foul territory beyond first or third base, or that, while on or over foul territory, touches the person of an umpire or player, or any object foreign to the natural ground.
A foul fly shall be judged according to the relative position of the ball and the foul line, including the foul pole, and not as to whether the infielder is on foul or fair territory at the time he touches the ball.
Rule 2.00 (Foul Ball) Comment: A batted ball not touched by a fielder, which hits the pitchers rubber and rebounds into foul territory, between home and first, or between home and third base is a foul ball.
