Ray Charles could have made that call.

Mistakes from players should cost games. Mistakes from umpires should not. The players did their job. He was tagged, and he was out.

And you work in a controlled environment where you generally have a lot of the relevant information you need to make a decision and while it may have to be done in a timely manner, it's not a split second decision.

Totally understand that opinion, but I'd send him every time in that situation.

            Kinsler didn't do his job.

              Nobody can overcome this argument.

Sure you can, because it's relying on the fallacy that Kinsler did his job.

You could not be more wrong. Kindler got the ball to first base and the first baseman tagged the runner.

lol, his job is to get the ball accurately to first. if his job was to just get it in the general vicinity then I'd be playing college ball right now.

                        Has MLB ever had review?
Yeah, they're still human. They're making split-second decisions based on half a dozen different observations, with what isn't always the best point of view. They don't have time to check and double check before they make those decisions. It was still a horrible call, but that's part of every sport.

How about input from the other umpires?
Because that isn't supposed to be a tag play. What happens if he takes his eye off the bag and misses that?

That's how you're supposed to slide to avoid injury.

Agreed. It took 2 more hits before that even made a difference - Harrison didn't do his job (he also gave up a hit to put that guy there, so he failed to do his job 3 times around that play).

                        • Question, are the pitches called in from the dugout or are they called by the catcher?

From what I understand there are some teams who do it one way, others who do it another

edit: probably not fast enough. I know the catcher is sending signs to the pitcher for the pitches he is to throw. I didn't know if a series of pitches comes from the dugout, or if they are working off of a pre-determined game plan
