I'm pretty certain he wasn't trying to hurt Andrus, he was trying to break up the double play. Same for the play at the plate, those guys don't go in there to hurt the catcher, they go in there to break up the play.

Did you watch the same play I watched? He never attempted to reach for the bag, and he was sliding straight at Andrus, away from the base.
