Maddon has nothing to be dissapointed about. First off he is a class act for the interview. To make the playoffs as a Wild Card Team after trailing the Red Sox by 9 games on September 1st is amazing. To lose Carl Crawford and Carlos Pena in the offseason and pitcher Matt Garza and to make the playoffs is also a tip to the cap. They could be good next year as well. David Price is still good, and if this series was a preview of what Matt Moore can do then it votes well for next year. Also Longoria is a beast.

The talent wasn't the issue, the fact that he looks like an idiot was. And he still looks like an idiot when he goes down on his knee to swing (but he hasn't done that today ).

He's a good player, I still don't think he's a better fielder than Young, not an overall better hitter than Young, but he's definitely got more power than Young. I think they could've gone with Beltre as the DH and kept Young at third and been just fine, except Beltre couldn't (wouldn't?) have been as versatile. But that's just my uninformed opinion.

Jubbs was talking about how statistically, Beltre is the best 3B the Rangers have ever had, comparing him to those that topped that list prior to Beltre (Young wasn't even on it). And yes, they were talking about his defensive ability as well, given that Young was a defensive liability on 3rd.

Kind of goes along with what the TBS announcers were saying during the game yesterday.

I agree he's a better third baseman than Young but, statistically, it's not a landslide like I keep hearing. Which statistics were they using? They both have .957 career fielding at third base; Young had a .950 this year and Beltre a .965, but we're talking about 1/4 of a season for Young and 2/3 of a season for Beltre.
