Yankees haven't lost a game when being up by 7 in the 8th since 1953.
Boston was 76-0 when leading after 8 inning until last night.

The Phillies pitched a bull pen game, gave most of their guys work and won.
Are you saying they were trying to lose the game?

The yank-mes didn't need to win. They were merely keeping everyone loose without straining them too much.

As far as the pitchers go, they just ran everyone out to see if they may get a chance for the post season roster.

EDIT - with a 7 run lead and no need to win, why risk it?

I don't think the Yankees tried to win that game. I do believe it was intentional so the rangers could face the rays.

You're talking about Major Leaguers, even if they're not starters. There's no excuse for them blowing a 7-0 lead in the 8th inning. Just because they didn't put Rivera in to save a meaningless game doesn't mean they weren't trying to win.

And New York hadn't lost a 7-0 game in the 8th inning since '53. LOL

Sorry, the conspiracy theorists got me off track. I couldn't remember if I'd heard it or read it.

I'm saying they were resting key players and it didn't make a shit to them if they lost or won. Which was evident in the last three games.

And i didn't mention the Phillies

NO SHIT, REALLY?!?!?! Where anywhere on here have i said they lost on purpose? They blew the lead because after the 6th inning it became a spring training game for them.

To preserve the integrity of the game. The Orioles, Astros, Yankees and Phillies were all in the same position last night.
