That had to be the craziest night in regular season baseball history

Anyone hear the stats on some of the stuff that happened last night?

Yankees haven't lost a game when being up by 7 in the 8th since 1953.

One of the best nights of baseball I can remember. I was mainly watching the Phillies vs Braves. But I was flipping the picture in picture down through the others on Extra innings.

It was awesome. Even better getting to listen to the Red Sox announcers during the loss.

How did the Braves end up losing? The last I saw, it was tied, in extra innings I think.

Pence singled and scored Schneider in the 13th.
Then Herndon got Freeman to ground into a DP to end it.

The Braves are lucky Boston collapsed as bad as they did. Boston is going to get the brunt of the media blitz.

I almost think NY wanted to let Tampa win so they could have a chance at keeping Boston out of the playoffs. Had NY not collapsed, they'd have a chance to beat Boston in the post season. Only a chance though. I doubt Boston would have made it through us.

That was one helluva crazy night fo sho.

I thought about that earlier. The Yankees really controlled the fate of this post season last night. Tampa is going to be a harder opponent for us, so I almost feel like they wanted Tampa to win.

                        89 Minutes To History
Four cities, two playoff spots and one epic night. Within 89 minutes, Atlanta and Boston collapsed as St. Louis and Tampa Bay completed two unimaginable comebacks.

                        10:26 p.m. ET -- Cardinals win 8-0

                        11:40 p.m. ET -- Braves lose 4-3 in 13th, are eliminated

12:02 a.m. ET -- Red Sox lose 4-3 on walk-off single in 9th (first shot, clutches throat)
12:05 a.m. ET -- Rays win 8-7 on walk-off home run in 12th, eliminating Red Sox (second shot, head falls back and to the left, back and to the left, back and to the left, back and to the left)

Last night was so great because the Yankees and Phillies both played the game like it meant something. If the Yankees could have won I think they would have.
Same deal in the NL, if the Phillies wanted to they could have taken the loss and forced the extra game. But they chose to finish strong.

How ironic is it that the Boston game was rain delayed and then ended within 3min of the Tampa game that went 13 innings. The solor HR in the 9th by pinch hitter Dan Johnson (.119 season BA) with 2 strikes and 2 outs to tie it for Tampa was just insane.

Don't forget the $142 million man that couldn't catch a semi-difficult line drive.
