That was a pathetic display of how to handle snaps last night. And at first glance, you have to think it is all on Costa. But I started to think about this a little bit more. I don't think it is all Costa. This happened ALL the time with Gurode as well. And I kind of remember it happening with Gurodes backups, but maybe I am making that up in my mind.
Someone needs to really do an analysis on Romo and his gestures while in the shotgun. He has to be doing something that is giving the center the opinion it is time to snap the ball. He is the common denominator and it can't all be on the center.
He has to be making some hand gesture or saying something that is similar to hut. I was listening to one of the random talking heads this week, it might have been Aikman, and they said before a game once, Romo went to the official and told them he was going to be saying HOT alot, and that he wasn't necessarilly saying HUT. Is he outwitting his own team?
Oh, and another thing, can the offensive line not pick up the blitz reads on their own? Why does he continously have to tell them where to pick up. I understand that is part of his job, but damn, he does it for every guy on the line on every shotgun play.
And for christ sakes, would it hurt to snap the ball with say, 5 seconds on the play clock? Does Romo realize leaving the oline in a stance is tiring? That would get on my damn nerves as an olineman.
Semi-rant/observation off.
