I hope OK, OK St, and Tech all leave, Baylor goes to the ACC, and the rest find homes, except Texas. I hope they end up independent and have to pay their own way through all of the other sports like women's volleyball, track and field, etc.

Out of all the schools out there, Texas is part of the select few that can go independent and be just fine. Now, i don't think that'll happen. We all know OU isn't going anywhere without Texas. Ending the OU/Texas game would ruin OU's recruiting in this state

BTW, Matt, jealousy is a stinky cologne

There's no jealousy, i'm just stating what's going on. And yes in football they can go independent just fine, at least for a little while, but look at ND, they aren't quite the team they were before.

But there's no way they can go independent in all the other sports they are required to play to remain a D1 school. They have to find a conference to take the other sports, or their whole athletic department, and D1 status will crumble.

And my personal opinion on this situation, i hope Texas goes indy in football and parks everything else in the ACC. With Pitt and Syracuse joining the ACC, that's a basketball wet dream

and do you seriously think Texas is going to go anywhere without being able to keep the LHN?
if cable providers don't carry it, the network is a flop, end of story.

I think that's why Texas would go independent over everything else, out of their greed over that network.

True, but moving west would give them more viewers, which i would think would make it more appealing for the providers to pick it up. Who knows

My understanding is that the ACC has said no thanks to Texas in any form or fashion at this point after finalizing Pitt and Syracuse. I think the LHN, the money from it, and other Texas demands are what made them pull their offer.

Also, I don't see Tx Tech going ACC, they are better working a 3 team move to the Pac-12 with OK/OK St.

Texas's only real hope is that the ACC reconsiders and takes them and Baylor as a package deal, in terms on the LHN and their 100% revenue from it.

I'm not saying the Pac-12 with them isn't a possibility, but they'd have to let a lot of "dream money" go when it comes to LHN revenue or dreams of revenue (if no one carries it )

I really could care less what the LHN does, i don't have it now. Hell, my grandma has E-Tex and has it LOL so if i want to watch a game i can just go to her house.

i think pac12-16 is the best way UT can go at this point. Either that, or try and rebuild the big 12 and get quality teams to come back. but thats not going to happen.

Ask ND how fine they have done being independent. They have not been relevant for 20 years. OU will do just fine without texas in conference. They will still play. The Big 8 and SWC conference were around a hell of a lot longer than the big 12 and that is where the rivalry sprung from.

I know where it started, thanks for the history lesson. But with tougher conference competition, would they still want to use this game as one of three ooc games? I would hope so.

I would say don't use ND as your example, but i guess that's really the only option out there. A lot of what ND has gone through has been there own fault as to why they have fallen so far from where they used to be. It's not just because they're Independent
