  • Asomugha will choose between Jets, Cowboys
    NFL.com Staff

Prized free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha will choose between signing with the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reported Friday.

The New York Jets have been consistently linked to Asomugha, while the Dallas Cowboys are making a late push to add him to their secondary.

The Cowboys would have to release cornerback Terence Newman in order to fit Asomugha under their salary cap, Lombardi reported.

Nope. The Boys are very much in it apparently but they'd have to release Newman which I doubt y'all care.

              • Nnamdi Asomugha, cornerback, 2010 team: Oakland Raiders.

The latest: NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reported Friday that Asomugha, the top free agency prize of the 2011 class, has the Cowboys and New York Jets “battling” for his services. ESPN’s Adam Schefter has said that there's an “80% chance” he ends up in New York.

Cullen Jenkins, defensive end, 2010 team: Green Bay Packers.

The latest: As of Thursday morning, multiple reports had Jenkins, arguably the top defensive lineman available, getting the most interest from the Cowboys and Washington Redskins. However, the Redskins signed Stephen Bowen Thursday and have reportedly dropped out of consideration. The Denver Broncos have also shown interest.

Michael Huff, safety, 2010 team: Oakland Raiders.

The latest: Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday that safety was “obviously” one of the Cowboys’ top priorities “and it's obviously something we’re working on.” There haven’t been many reports in the last few days regarding Huff, a player many believe would be a great fit with the Cowboys. The former Texas Longhorn could be in for quite a payday considering that the Houston Texans just inked safety Danieal Manning to a 4-year $20 million deal.

Abram Elam, safety, 2010 team: Cleveland Browns.

The latest: With Gerald Sensabaugh also a free agent and Alan Ball likely moving back to cornerback, the Cowboys could add two safeties. Elam was a reserve with the Cowboys in 2006 before becoming a starter with the Browns. He has worked with Rob Ryan, something that has some beliving he is a lock to end up in Dallas.

                  • Im willing to bet he is just using the Cowboys to get more money from the Jets.

I doubt it. For some reason or another it seems like EVERY player just about wishes they could play for the Dallas Cowboys at some point in their career I've noticed.

Matt Moore just signed a 2 year deal with Miami worth $5 Million. The Dolphins owner declared the "Orton" deal, dead.

                      • The Jets may not have the money they thought they did.

They were about about 10 million under the cap, but that didn't include their signing of Santonio Holmes, which was 10 million/yr alone.

And if he came to Texas he'd save the State Income Tax he'd pay in New York.

                        • We need that ninja here and as long as he plays for one Ryan brother he'll be happy, I'm sure Texas is the place he really wants to be too.

                          • The Denver Broncos just signed Willis McGahee the free agent running back out of Baltimore. Smart move financially and he'll get to see some reps with Knowshon Moreno being the lead back.

Well yeah, from a financial point of view, its cheaper to work in Texas. Taxes, housing, etc is cheaper here. But this dude wants to be a actor so he seems to want to go there. At least the media portrays it that way. If he wants to come here and play football then awsome but if he wants to get into movies then stay away!

I wont shed a tear if he goes to the Jets though, we need help in alot of places and that is alot of money that he wants.

                              • Honestly that puts the Broncos in a nice place, two solid backs.

Not 15 backs a season like before
