How much stoppage time did they play?? I left my shop and it was 2-1 USA at the ~105th minute. I get home and find out we lost on PKs. Damn it!

You've gotta hand it to those Japanese girls. They played their asses off. I don't care much for soccer but the last 40 minutes of play was pure entertainment.

I can imagine this will be quite a bit of an emotional boost in Japan. They've been kicked in the balls so much in the last few months that they needed some good news and those girls provided it.

Japan deserved every bit of it. You can't shank PK's and expect to beat anyone at that level. Japan should get a shit-ton of credit for playing to their strength...technical soccer. Ball control, execution of passes and corner-kicks (the one that tied it up for them was pretty damn good!). They were giving up a lot of height, but their technical ability more than made up for it. Hats off to team that probably helped their country feel a little pride after all they've been through.
