someone please explain the NBA lockout in a nutshell

i watch as many mavs games as i can but other than that i don't spend anytime reading about other NBA news. so why exactly are they(and who is doing it?) having a lockout and why?

The owners want a fixed salary cap, and the players don't. The players want a better profit sharing arrangement, and the owners don't want to give any extra profits up. They can't come to an agreement, so the league is in a lockout.

A lot of small market teams are losing money. The league is trying to fix it by low balling the players to keep costs down in a world of overpriced clowns they created.

MLB gets it right where the money is pooled (a tad) and given to the small market teams to keep the league healthier. Revenue sharing may be a bit commie but look at the parity in the NFL since it came in.

This is true. Cuban says the only year he has made any money was the 06 season. I would guess that he made money this year also.
