Really? No Tour love around here?

Even after an American team (Garmin-Cervelo) won the TTT yesterday and an American (Tyler Farrar) won stage 3 on July 4?

And how can you not love Zabriskie's Captain America get-up?

The only thing the tour de France means to me is that a bunch of the fools around here will clogging up the roads riding.

Nobody gives a shit about road bike racing. Hell, I don't even give a shit about pro mountain bike racing.

I have been riding since I was a kid and I still can not get into the races. Just not very exciting to watch. Every now and then I will flip to it and see what is going on if I remember it is on.

Motorists hate pedestrians, and pedestrians hate motorists...however, everybody hates cyclists.

Bikers are pretentious, good for nothing assholes. Fuck Lance Armstrong for making that shit "in". Fuck every single biker that's riding 20mph down a 2-lane road on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

I started watching/following the "Tour" during Lemonds first win in '86. It was a true drama, because Bernard Hinault (a past winner in '85?) was Lemonds' teammate and would not support Lemond at all. Lemond had supported Laurent Fignon (another french bastard) in '84 (I think), and was shit on for being an American in a french road race. So in '86, Lemond pretty much won that tour all by his lonesome. MOst people don't get the "team sport" part of cycling, but from the TTT, through every stage (with exception of the solo TT's) the team is VERY important.

About bikes on the roads: I started road riding in the mid '80's, and bikes and cars CAN get along, but it takes patience and courtesy for BOTH parties. After a 15 year haitus, I'm back on the road to train, and it's better now than it was back then. I saw several road-side fist fights (I myself was involved in one) and it's not pretty. Cyclists' are horrible about following traffic laws, like running stop signs and not staying on the shoulder. I've always stayed within a foot of the outside white line, and have had very few issues.

How about the assholes running two wide, on a 2 lane highway where you have to follow behind them for a 1/4 mile doing their bullshit 15-20mph pace, because cars are coming from the other direction and you can't pass. It should be illegal for bikers to be on a two-lane thoroughfare and drivers should be able to mow them down without any penalty. I'm an angry driver (been getting better lately), but NOTHING makes me want to blow someone's fucking head off more that that shit. Other than that, I have no problems with them, aside from their gay spandex uniforms.

Again, it's about courtesy. The bikers are in the wrong to be riding 2 abreast, and should never do that when there's not enough lanes. Most riders don't mean to be a pain in the ass, and may not even realize they're holding up traffic, especially when their ass is sucking wind from every orifice of their body.

The spandex does serve a purpose, and so do the bright colored jerseys. ;-)

They would be less likely to do that if people gave them the lawful 3 foot space when passing. Just a heads up. If people didn't smash the fuck out of dozens of cyclists every year, they probably wouldn't ride the way they do.

If seeing people riding their bicycles inspires rage in you, you need help man.
