Personally, i thought Hamilton could've helped Dallas out next year(or whenever they play ball again). Of course, i could be a little bias in my thinking
I wasn't too impressed by Hamilton. I think is was a great trade. Many players get drafted into the nba. Few "make" it. Rudy is a proven nba star and I like his play style. He will make a great addition to the mavs. At first I wanted the resigning of butler. But now I am in the air. As much as he stays injured it makes me wonder. Re-sign Tyson and JJ for sure!

I think brining in Fernadez is a good backup plan just incase Butler dosent get resigned, and if he does get resigned then he will be a nice addition on the bench.

I'm not a big Rudy fan, particularly based on his last 2 years performance. He was better his first year in terms of shootingn percentages, etc. I think his being unhappy in Portland, so maybe this will get his head on straight and bring him back to a better game. I think he's better than a draft pick, at least in the short term which is all the Mavs care about right now, so I'm ok with the trade whether we keep him or use him on something bigger.

I agree that Rudy is a better option than a draft pick as well. As far as who gets cut from the Mavs, I think, Peja is the most obvious one following him is Stevenson or Cardinal (IMO) if not both. JJ has said he would like to remain with the Mavericks and his agent has said he would like to keep him here. Obviously Chandler is their first priority in resigning, then Butler and I would assume JJ is 3rd. I think the coaching staff lost some confidence in Roddy, enough that if he does not contribute this upcoming season he will be on the chopping block. Ian Mahinmi could also be released depending on the CBA. But, who knows

Good move by the Mavs, Rudy is good and has alot of potential.

I wish they would trade off Roddy if someone wants him. He just isn't what everyone thought he would be. He fouls waaaaay too much.

I would of rather kept Hamilton imo. Getting Fernandez will likely replace Peja. Barea and Chandler will probably both be resigned. The rest is kind of up in the air until there is a new CBA. I wouldn't mind losing Roddy either.

It was the right move. Do you really think a rookie will help this team now?

I'd love to get younger but Rudy is 26 with experience. He needed a new scenery anyways.

We do have young players who could be future starters imo.

I'm expecting Rudy to start at SG and let Jet do his thing off the bench.. DoJo could get a few more minutes next season and should be ready if Terry is gone after the 2011-12 season.

Brewer can ball, I'm not saying he can fill Carons spot, but our SF position should be fine if Caron doesnt resign.

                  Mahinmi is strictly a backup.

Roddy needs to eat more and make his bones stronger lol.

I read something this morning from a french site saying Roddy's going to have to have surgery on his foot again and will be down for 2-3 months.

                      That sucks.

Good thing we have 15 months till the next possible season.

When Hamilton was on, he was one of the best in college. The problem was when he was off, he was not very good at all and on both sides of the court at that. If you watched him much this past year, when his shot was on and he was scoring, his defense was great.

Yes, but that was college. Not many can make it in the nba. Personally I haven't been impressed with many from Texas in a while. I think he will be a bust in the nba. But we will see.

He's been around for 2 years, but in actual games played, he's got more like 1 season under his belt. The kid is lightning quick. I say you still give him at least 2 years of development before you ship him off unless someone makes you an offer you can't refuse.

I was betting he would be. Rudy would take his place. I am also going to bet butler is gone as well. I would like to see Roddy gone and fill those spots.
