  • BCS strips USC’s 2004 title

    What a surprise!!

So, we have to wait maybe 7 more years for Auburn to have theirs taken away.

If anything they need to strip everything from them.

What's protocol on this? Shouldn't it default to the opposing team?

Good thing Wisconsin took out the Buckeyes or we might not have a first or second place team in last years BCS rankings.

If they strip a title the championship is vacated.

I wonder why the next highest ranked team wouldn't be awarded the title?

wish they made USC pay back the money they were paid to play in the national championship. That would really put some teeth into getting the title stripped away.

I thought you were right, I thought it was only the Heisman that stayed "vacated," but I was wrong also.

As a result of the BCS's Presidential Oversight Committee ruling, there will be no BCS national champion in the record book for the 2004-05 season.
                        .
                        .
                        .
The dominant performance capped a perfect season by USC and left it ranked at the top of both the AP and coaches' polls. Auburn and Utah also finished that season undefeated.

Former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said Monday the Tigers should be declared retroactively as 2004-05 national champions.

"Yes," Tuberville said. "Someone should be awarded (the) title. If not, the team that had to forfeit is not really punished."

The Trojans will not have to relinquish The Associated Press national championship.

Would you give it to an undefeated Auburn or to Oklahoma, who was trounced by USC? There were four undefeated teams in 2004 and USC probably would have killed any of them.

Uh, they didn't make it to the 04 championship, how the fuck exactly should Auburn be handed the title? Dude's high, and so are you.

They are all cheating, why don't we just hand out a championship award to every school so they feel better about themselves and their self-esteem doesn't tank?
