I don't know anyone that's seriously played the game that thinks there should be a rule change here. This is just another agent talking out of his ass; he's probably a big basketball fan anyway.

I always thought plays like that were recipes for disaster too. I'm not opposed to changing that rule. You can't tackle a second or third baseman like that, why is the catcher able to be pummeled?

Sure you can. The runner has the right to the basepath, second and third baseman simply aren't in front of the base that counts for a run and thus don't have any interest in putting themselves in that position. It's also something that just kind of comes with being a catcher; it's a gritty position and it's a bit of a rite of passage to defend the plate.
