Ditching the MACH 460 in the 1995 Cobra

I have the factory head unit and CD player and factory Mach 460 stuff. Both work fine but I need the CD player pocket to hold a couple gauges. I kind of like the idea of a CD player and even more a DVD player now that we have a youngster.

Will this work with the factory amps or am I going to have to gut them out and wire the speakers directly to the radio?

and like the fact it is compatible with back up camera....just not sure how that gets activated on the headunit with a manual trans mission.

Oh, and I am using factory sized replacement speakers by Focal in the doors and rear.

I might entertain suggestion on a subwoofer and amp to run all 5 speakers.

I believe it's connected to your reverse light switch so whenever you shift into reverse, the camera and display comes on.

With what you have done to that car there is no way I would put a jensen in there. I ran an aftermarket head unit and used all of the factory 460 stuff. I payed someone to install it though so I am no help with that.

I know jack shit about brands. I am not looking to break the bank on this mod though for as little use as the radio gets.

I would like to keep the headunit under $350-400 but would like to be able to add navigation to it too.

I'm running my Kenwood Excelon on the Mach 460 stereo. You have to get the adapter harness to connect your amp connections to the new RCA's. Since you're using the RCA's, make sure you get the highest preamp output voltage you can. I had a JVC unit in it at first with 2v outputs, once I put my Kenwood in with 4v outputs it was a world of difference.

I am dropping 3 gauges down into the CD spot right now. I don't like the gauges up on the top where the dash clock was. So fuel level, volts, and EGT are going down below the radio.
